Verma,Ghanshyam Kumar; Verma,Santwana; Singh,Gagandeep; Shanker,Vinay; Tegta,Geeta Ram; Minhas,Smridhi; Sharma,Vineeta; Thakur,Jatin.
A case of extensive chromoblastomycosis of the right leg and thigh with verruciform to nodular lesions evolving rapidly over five years duration is reported. The diagnosis was confirmed by visualizing pathognomonic pigmented muriform bodies with unique septate hyphae and mycological culture yielding Fonsecaea pedrosoi.

A hazai húsmarhatartás környezeti értékelése és externáliáinak vizsgálata benchmarking módszerrel AgEcon
Bakosne Borocz, Maria; Fogarassy, Csaba.
------------------------------ In our study we reviewed the conditions of extensive agricultural farming and its benefits based on environmental criteria. Furthermore we examined its external effects, which may affect the agriculture and the meat cattle breeding. Beef fattening, when done intensively, can cause huge environmental problems which may cause negative...

Changes in adipose cells of Longissimus dorsi muscle in Iberian pigs raised under extensive conditions Anais da ABC (AABC)
AYUSO,DOLORES; GONZÁLEZ,ANA; PEÑA,FRANCISCO; IZQUIERDO,MERCEDES.
ABSTRACT Twenty-four Iberian castrated male pigs were used to characterize and evaluate the effect of the duration of “Montanera” in the adipocytes size and its relation with the backfat thickness and intramuscular fat. The animals were fed under extensive conditions during 30, 60 and 90 days in the “Dehesa” before slaughtered. Carcass weight, percentage of intramuscular fat, thickness of backfat and its three layers and adipocytes size of the intramuscular fat were obtained. The group which expended 90 days on fattening obtained the highest adipocytes, with an area higher by a 50% than those that only expended 30 days. The differences in diameter and perimeter adipocyte were not as marked as area. A significant positive correlation between the diameter,...

EVALUATING EXTENSIVE SHEEP FARMING SYSTEMS AgEcon
Stott, Alistair W.; Vosough Ahmadi, Bouda; Morgan-Davies, Claire; Dwyer, Cathy M.; Goddard, Pete; Phillips, Kate; Milne, Catherine E.; Kupiec-Teahan, Beata; Ringrose, Sian; Waterhouse, Tony.
Data from each of 5 commercial, extensive sheep farms in Cumbria, UK were used as parameters in a linear program (LP) representing labour and grazing management in such farming systems. The LP maximised ewe enterprise gross margin subject to constraints dictated by the labour availability and land types on each farm. Under the assumptions used, labour availability and price restricted ewe numbers well below those observed in practice on 2 farms i.e. land resources were adequate for the farming system practiced. On two other farms stocking levels and hence returns were limited by the availability of forage and hence feed input prices relative to output. On one farm, greater grassland productivity was the key determinant of system performance. It was...

Physiological Responses of Slow-Growing Chickens under Diurnally Cycling Temperature in a Hot Environment Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Mutibvu,T; Chimonyo,M; Halimani,TE.
ABSTRACT Free-range chicken production has significantly increased in recent years and it often entails exposing birds to cyclic environmental conditions. The objective of the current study was to investigate the effect of bird strain and sex, and rearing system on the physiological responses of Potchefstroom Koekoek (PK), Ovambo (OV) and Naked Neck (NN) chickens reared in a hot environment. Body weight (BW), rectal temperature (RT), respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR) were determined weekly for 4 weeks, in 3 slow-growing chicken strains under cyclic environmental conditions. A total of 288, 20-week old Potchefstroom Koekoek (PK), Ovambo (OV) and Naked Neck (NN) chickens were separated by sex and allocated to extensive and intensive rearing systems....
